Mr. Kumuditha Athisinghe, the CEO of Operational Health and Safety Training Center, visited the Faculty of Technology, University of Jaffna (on 17th November 2021) and conducted a special session on “Occupational Health and Safety in Laboratories and Workshop”. Both the academic and academic supportive staff participated in the session covering hazard identification, categorization and risk assessment for the laboratories of both the Department of Engineering Technology and Biosystems Technology, followed by a physical inspection of all the laboratories located at the new faculty complex. During the inspection, Mr. Athisinghe suggested on accident-free lab set-up, implementation of the 5M model and safety implications to standardize the laboratories. The Faculty of Technology greatly appreciates him for his professional assistance.
